Vontrell King-Williams joined the Auburn Football staff in 2023. He currently serves as defensive line coach.

He was originally named defensive tackles coach at Auburn in February 2024 after serving as a defensive line analyst for Auburn in 2023. 

King-Williams led one of the top units in the nation in 2025. Under his leadership, the Tigers finished in the top six in the SEC in both sacks and tackles for loss. Overall, Auburn’s defense allowed its lowest yards per carry (2.86) and rushing yards per game (99.3) since 2003, and the fewest yards overall allowed (329.2) since 2017.

Six different defensive linemen recorded at least 2.0 TFL led by junior All-SEC performer Keldric Faulk with 5.0. He finished his three-year career with 109 tackles, 19.5 TFL and 10.0 sacks all during King-Williams’ tenure.

In his first season as defensive line coach in 2024, the Tigers recorded 28 sacks and 68 tackles for loss, led by Jalen McLeod (13.5 TFL/8.0 sacks) and Keldric Faulk (11.0 TFL/7.0 sacks). Malik Blocton earned freshman All-America honors, a year after Faulk. Philip Blidi, Jayson Jones and Isaiah Raikes all signed with NFL teams. 

In 2023 at Auburn, King-Williams assisted with a defensive line unit that produced first-team All-SEC product Marcus Harris, who led the Tigers with seven sacks and 11 tackles for loss. Prior to joining Auburn, King-Williams was the defensive tackles coach at Eastern Michigan University for a year after serving as a defensive graduate assistant at Liberty for two seasons. 

Prior to Auburn, King-Williams served as defensive tackles coach at Eastern Michigan and spent two seasons as a defensive graduate assistant at Liberty, where the Flames ranked among the nation’s best in multiple defensive categories and finished the 2020 season ranked in the top 25 nationally for the first time in program history.

A native of Chicago, King-Williams played collegiate football at Illinois, Butler Community College, and UTSA, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies in 2016. He began his coaching career as a defensive line intern at UTSA in 2017. He is married to the former Monique Swift.
