The Auburn volleyball team embarked on a new journey as the team left Auburn very early Wednesday morning for Lincoln, Neb., for the first round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament. The team's appearance in the national tournament this season is a first in the program's history.

The group of 27 departed from campus at 4:15 a.m. and everyone was bright-eyed and ready to go! The flight from Atlanta to Omaha was set to leave at 8:36 a.m. ET and we all made it to the gate without a single snafu.

The arrival to Omaha was a highly-anticipated one as the temperature was 17 degrees. Everyone bundled up in their coats, hats, gloves and scarves and were excited (well, not really) for the change in weather compared to Auburn.

We drove from the Omaha airport to Lincoln (about 45-50 minutes) and had lunch at Schlotzsky's Deli once we got to town. The team is now at the hotel and resting. Practice starts at 2:45.

Everyone is really excited to be here (despite some grogginess from the early morning) and ready to play!

The Tigers had solid 90 minutes worth of practice at the NU Coliseum from 2:45-4:15. Redshirts Courtney McDonald and Margaret Clark ran stairs while their 15 teammates were able to practice on the court. The NCAA only allowed the 15 athletes dressing tomorrow to practice today so the rest of the crew supported the team from the sidelines!

Following practice, the team braved the cold and walked across the street to Misty's Steakhouse. All the stomachs were filled with steaks, salmon, bread and/or soup. The atmosphere was great and the service was superb. An excellent choice made by Director of Operations April Yantis!

The team is resting now - probably watching some college hoops. Breakfast is at 9 tomorrow morning and then it is off to serve and pass. Everyone is anxious for tomorrow to come and ready to make their NCAA debut.

Its game day!!!!! The Embassy Suites put together a delicious spread for breakfast - fruit, oatmeal, make your own omelet, assorted cereal, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns...the list can go on and on!

The team had a meeting before practice at 11 and is now ready for serve and pass!

Here's a Photo Gallery from our trip so far.

T-minus 15 minutes until match time! The team has a group of about 50-60 friends and family here and are thrilled to have their support group travel to see them!

And they just played the fight song! WAR EAGLE!

    Thursday, December 2 (7:45 p.m. CT)
Wow...that was fun! The team picked up its first-ever NCAA tournament win in the program's first-ever NCAA tournament appearance!

The highlight of the entire match was watching 5-6 Sarah Wroblicky play in the front row at the end of the third set. We ran out of subs so she had no choice! The best part was that she was credited with a block assist! Way to go Sarah! (and Camila Jersonsky for getting that block).

We're watching the Nebraska/Sacred Heart match right now. The atmosphere here at NU Coliseum is unreal. The Husker fans truly love the sport and understand it. They clap for great plays even if it is against their own team. It's a great place to watch volleyball!

    WAR EAGLE!

    Friday, December 3 (5:20 p.m. CT)
After an afternoon of relaxation at the hotel, the team has finally arrived at the NU Coliseum and is ready for their match against the Huskers! Assistant Coach Edgard da Gama e Silva and volunteer assistant Gabe Aramian are kicking a vball around on the court and the superb soccer skills are causing the ball to fly haphazardly in every direction. :)

Be sure to follow live stats and AUVolleyball on Twitter during the match!

Let's go Tigers! Beat the Huskers!!!
