Bullock Named To All-SEC Freshmen Team

AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn freshman Sarah Bullock was honored by the Southeastern Conference as she was named to the All-SEC Freshman team, the league announced Monday. "I'm very proud of Sarah and the growth she has made this year," Wade Benson, head volleyball coach, said. "She has many more awards ahead of her with continued focus in the future." Bullock, an Allen, Texas, native, finished her first season with Auburn as the team's go-to attacker, finishing with a team-high 296 kills and 889 attempts. She finished with a .181 attack percentage and had a team-best 11 solo blocks. Her 275 total digs and 2.43 digs per set average were second-best on the team. Against SEC opponents, Bullock led the Tigers with 216 kills and recorded a .175 attack percentage. Bullock tallied eight double-doubles on the year and had 16 matches in double-digit kills. She set a career-high in kills at Arkansas with 21 kills and a career-best in digs with 14 against George Washington. Bullock earned two SEC Freshman of the Week honors this season. Her first came on Oct. 27 after Bullock led Auburn to two three-set sweeps over Mississippi State and Alabama at home. Her second honor came on Nov. 23 when she led the Tigers offensively with 35 total kills and a .310 attack percentage, including her 21-kill, 12-dig performance against Arkansas The Auburn volleyball team closed out the 2009 season with its best finish in 10 years, having a 16-15 overall mark and 8-12 in the SEC.
