AUBURN, Ala. - Outside hitter Sarah Bullock was named the Southeastern Conference's Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the league offices announced Monday.
Bullock's weekly award marks the fifth time this season that a Tiger has been honored by the SEC. Classmate Katherine Culwell has earned two Freshman of the Week honors and junior Liz Crouch was named Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 21.
Bullock, the Allen, Texas, native, led the Tigers offensively this past weekend, finishing with 35 total kills and a .310 attack percentage. In the five-set loss to Arkansas, Bullock recorded her first-career 20-kill performance, finishing with 21 kills and just two errors on 50 attempts for a .380 attack percentage. She also recorded 12 digs to pick up her seventh double-double of the season.
In Auburn's come-from-behind victory over Ole Miss, she had a team-best 14 kills. Bullock also finished with seven digs and three blocks for the Tigers. Overall, Bullock has recorded a team-best 15 double-digit kills performances on the season.
Auburn looks to hold on to its second-place status in the SEC West as the Tigers take on the Georgia Bulldogs Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Tigers host Georgia at the Student Activities Center and admission is free.
