    AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn volleyball team travels west for a pair of important SEC road matches this weekend. The Tigers take on in-state rival Alabama at 7 p.m. Friday in the CAVE at the Coleman Coliseum. Auburn concludes the weekend with a 1:30 p.m. match against Mississippi State Sunday at the Newell-Grissom Building.

    "It is going to be a fun weekend and we're really looking forward to the challenges ahead," head coach Wade Benson said. "Both Alabama and Mississippi State are playing a lot better towards the end of the season and both, including us, still have a lot to prove. It's going to be a tough battle and it is our job to be prepared."

    Auburn closes out the regular season on the road as the Tigers travel to Athens, Ga., for a 6 p.m. CT match on November 24 against the Georgia Bulldogs.

    SCOUTING ALABAMA
    The Alabama Crimson Tide enter the weekend with a 10-17 overall mark and are 2-15 in Southeastern Conference action. The team is coming off a pair of conference road losses last weekend. The Crimson Tide traveled to South Carolina on Nov. 12 and dropped a four-set match to the Gamecocks. Alabama followed with a three-set loss on Nov. 14 at No. 1 Florida.

    Sophomore Kayla Fitterer leads the squad with 346 total kills on the season and her 3.64 kills-per-set average is good for third in the SEC. Redshirt sophomore Leigh Moyer has a team-best .294 attack percentage and averages 1.38 kills per set. Senior setter Kayla Schmidt is 10th in the league with a 6.05 assists-per-set average, while Kelsey Anderson is third in the SEC, averaging 4.34 digs per set.

    The Crimson Tide have a slim 22-21 lead in the overall series between the two squads. The rivals met earlier this season on Oct. 3 in Auburn and the Tigers took a three-set sweep over the Tide. Morgan Johns led all attackers with 15 kills on 25 attempts for a .520 attack percentage. She also finished with three blocks (one solo, two assists) on the day. Freshman Camila Jersonsky had nine kills and three blocks, while senior libero Liz Crouch had a match-high 20 digs.

    SCOUTING MISSISSIPPI STATE
    Mississippi State stands at 11-17 on the season and holds a 3-14 record in SEC competition. The Bulldogs traveled to No. 1 Florida on Nov. 12 and fell to the Gators in four sets. Mississippi State followed with a match on Nov. 14 at South Carolina. The Bulldogs lost a tough battle to the Gamecocks in five sets.

    Junior Caitlin Rance has a team-high 357 kills on the season and her 3.53 kills-per-set average is sixth in the conference. Freshman setter Paris Perret is fourth in the league, averaging 9.04 assists per set. Senior Ashley Newsome leads all SEC blockers with a 1.22 blocks-per-set average and has 123 blocks on the season. Libero Kayla Woodard is fourth in the conference with an average of 4.30 digs per set.

    The Tigers hold a 29-14 series record over the Bulldogs. The two teams met on Oct. 1 in Auburn and the Tigers came away with a three-set victory over Mississippi State. Christina Solverson picked up a double-double in the win, tallying 20 assists and 11 digs. Sarah Bullock finished with a match-high 12 kills and Liz Crouch had 14 digs. Alyssa Davis recorded eight kills and two blocks for the Tigers, while Morgan Johns had seven kills. Kelly Fidero had six kills and a team-best four blocks for Auburn.
