Auburn Volleyball Falls To LSU, 3-0

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Auburn volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of LSU on Friday, Nov. 1, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The loss drops Auburn to 1-22, 0-11 Southeastern Conference while LSU improved to 14-7, 6-4 SEC.

LSU took game one, 30-18, as Jennifer Hampton hammered down seven kills for the Bayou Bengals. Auburn had a tough time on the attack, registering a .000 attack percentage on 36 attempts for the game. Auburn kept LSU within striking distance early as the Tigers from the Plains trailed by just a point, 9-8. LSU then went on an 8-3 scoring run to up the lead to 17-11 before closing out the first game.
LSU dominated Auburn in game two, downing AU, 30-10. Again Auburn had a tough time on the attack, collecting a -.091 attack percentage on 33 attempts compared to LSU's .464 attack percentage on 28 attempts. LSU raced out to a 13-3 lead before Auburn called their second timeout of the game. LSU continued to pressure Auburn, taking game two going away.
Auburn played its best game of the night in game three, but still came up short, falling 30-24 in the final game of the night. After falling behind, 20-10, AU put together a string of big plays to close within four, 25-21. LSU responded with three straight kills en route to the game and match win.
Freshman Bailey Veit led Auburn with seven kills on a team-high 28 attempts while also collecting a team-best three blocks. Sophomnore Jennifer Morozov had six digs for AU. Rachel Vogt of LSU led all hitters with 11 kills.
The match loss was the 28th consecutive conference loss for Auburn, tying the SEC record currently held by Mississippi State.
Auburn will remain on the road this weekend as it plays at SEC West leading Arkansas at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3.
