AUBURN, Ala. - Outside hitter Sarah Bullock was named the Southeastern Conference's Freshman of the Week for the first time in her career after leading the squad to a 2-0 record this weekend in conference play.

"This was a long time coming for Sarah," Benson said. "She has been such a steady player for us and is really the backbone of this team. It is a well-deserved honor."

Bullock, the Allen, Texas, native, led the squad in kills in the 3-0 win over Mississippi State, having 12 kills. That mark is the tenth time this season she has recorded double-digit kills. She also finished with nine kills in the sweep of Alabama on Friday and her overall attack percentage of .292 was third-best on the team for the weekend. Bullock's 21 total kills on the weekend gave her 199 kills on the year, the most on the team.

"I'm really happy and honored to get the award," Bullock said. "I played very solid this weekend and am extremely excited."

Bullock's weekly award marks the fourth time this season that a Tiger has been honored by the SEC. Classmate Katherine Culwell has earned two Freshman of the Week honors and junior Liz Crouch was named Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 21.

The Tigers take to the road and head to Athens, Ga., for a mid-week SEC match against Georgia at 6 p.m. CT on Wednesday. Auburn then travels to Baton Rouge, La., for a Sunday match at LSU on Nov. 1. Match time is set for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast by Cox Sports Television.
