AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn senior libero Sarah Wroblicky was named the SEC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Wroblicky had one of the best weekends of her career as the Tigers (12-7, 3-4 SEC) earned a weekend sweep of LSU and Texas A&M at Auburn Arena. She averaged 5.88 digs per set in the two wins and had her fourth and fifth matches this season with 20-plus digs. Her 26 digs in Sunday's win over Texas A&M were a season-high and a career-best in a four-set match. Wroblicky was also a key to the Tigers' passing game as she recorded 42 serve receptions without an error over the weekend.
The native of Irvine, Calif., also moved up the all-time Auburn digs list. After recording her 1,000th career dig last weekend, she has passed four players in the record books over the last three matches and now ranks sixth all-time at Auburn with 1,060 career digs.
This is the first weekly SEC honor in Wroblicky's career and the second for an Auburn player this season. Fellow senior Katherine Culwell was the SEC Offensive Player of the Week after the season's opening week. This week's other honorees were Missouri's Molly Kreklow and Alabama freshman Krystal Rivers.
Wroblicky and the Tigers will hit the road this weekend for matches at Florida (6 p.m. Friday) and South Carolina (12:30 p.m. Sunday).
