Lady Rebels Down Tigers in Three in SEC Volleyball

OXFORD, Miss. – Freshman Bailey Veit set a career-high with 10 kills, topping her previous best of eight, but again the Tigers could not snap their 10-match losing streak, falling to Ole Miss, 3-0, at the Gillom Sports Center on the University of Mississippi campus on Sunday, Oct. 6.
The Lady Rebels took game one, 30-17, as Ole Miss outhit the Tigers, .375 to .029. Veit started the afternoon with a big game for AU, putting down five kills on 11 attempts with just two errors for a .273 hitting percentage.
Game two again saw the Lady Rebels outhit the Tigers, this time by a .256 to .105 mark, to take the second game, 30-21. Veit and senior Grace Boyd each put down three kills in the game, giving Veit eight for the match, tying the career-high she set on Friday against the Mississippi State. Boyd also had three solo blocks in the game.
The Lady Rebels closed out the match with a 30-22 win in game three. UM hit .273 for the game to finish the match with a .298 attack percentage while the Tigers hit -.096 in the final game to close the match out with a .019 attack percentage. Ole Miss finished with 10 team blocks while AU had eight.
The Tigers return home next weekend as they play host to Arkansas and LSU on Friday, Oct. 11, and Sunday, Oct. 13, respectively.
