LAST TIME OUT
The Tigers are coming off a 0-2 weekend with home losses to No. 22 LSU and Ole Miss. Auburn came out and won the fisrt game against LSU on Friday only to fall in the next three en route to the 3-1 loss. The Tigers then lost in a sweep to Ole Miss on Sunday, giving Auburn its longest losing streak of the season at five matches.
LAST SEASON VS. GEORGIA
The Tigers and Bulldogs split in their two meetings last season with each team losing on their home court. Auburn won the first meeting 3-2 in Athens (30-32, 30-25, 30-23, 27-30, 20-18). Jessica Glover exploded for 26 kills, followed by Rachel Shanks with 20. Glover also led the team with 20 digs in the match. UGA took the 3-1 win when the teams met in Auburn (28-30, 30-24, 22-30, 17-30). Glover, Shanks and Whitney Jacob all finished the match with double-doubles.
The Wednesday match against Georgia is only the third mid-week match for Auburn this season. The Tigers are 2-0 in their other mid-week matches, taking down Georgia State in a sweep on Tuesday, Aug. 28 and Kennesaw State in a sweep on Tuesday, Sept. 4. This week's match is the first of the season for Auburn on a Wednesday.
1,000 KILLS. . . AND COUNTING
At the 14-5 mark in Auburn's win over Kennesaw State, senior Rachel Shanks picked up her second kill of the match and the 1,000th of her career. She becomes only the 10th player in Auburn's history to pull off the feat and still has the rest of the season to build on it. Currently, she is sixth all-time at Auburn in career kills with 1,110. Shanks is also nearing the 1,000 mark in career digs and could break it this week as she currently has 990. If she reaches the 1,000 digs mark, she will become only the fourth Tiger ever to make both lists.
COACH FARINA ON GEORGIA
"Georgia is playing well and with a more determined effort than previous Georgia teams. We will have to counter their emotion by being better on our side than what Georgia is on their side."
