Tigers Fall To St. Mary’s In Three

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The Auburn volleyball team fell to 3-2 on the year after suffering a 3-0 defeat at the hands of St. Mary’s on Friday night at the Salbasgeon Tournament hosted by Oregon State. Game scores were 30-18, 30-22, 30-23.
The Tigers struggled offensively all night, as St. Mary’s held the Tigers to a collective .167 hitting percentage while the Gaels banged balls to the tune of .427.
Jennifer Amobi led the Tigers off the bench with 10 kills while Bailey Veit hit .583 (7K, 0E, 12TA) in front of family and friends that made the 45-minute drive up from Salem, Ore., to see the Tigers in action. Rachel Shanks had nine digs for the Tigers.
St. Mary’s, which was receiving votes in the latest USA Today/AVCA Top 25 poll after upsetting sixth-ranked Stanford last weekend, improved to 5-0 on the year.
The Tigers have little time to rest as AU will face the host Beavers, who defeated Oral Roberts 3-1 in the tournament opener, at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday.
