    AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn volleyball hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for the 2010 Blue Raider Bash hosted by Middle Tennessee State University, Friday-Sunday. The Tigers will face four teams during the three-day tournament in Miami (Fla.), Duke, Middle Tennessee State and Southern Mississippi.

    "All of these teams can play and are NCAA tournament teams," head coach Wade Benson said. "I'm excited about this weekend with the competition and its going to show us early where we're at before conference competition starts."

    Auburn (4-0) opens the tournament Friday with a 7 p.m. match against Miami at the Murphy Center. Saturday has Auburn take on Duke at 11 a.m. at the Murphy Center before facing the home team, Middle Tennessee State, at 7 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Gym. The Tigers close out the weekend with a 1 p.m. match against Southern Miss in the Murphy Center.

    AUBURN VOLLEYBALL
    The Auburn volleyball team entered its 25th year as a program with an all-time record of 357-378 for a .485 winning percentage. Head Coach Wade Benson is in his third season at the helm of the program and is joined by assistants Jozsef Forman and Edgard da Gama e Silva.

    The 2010 Auburn squad is comprised of five senior, three juniors, five sophomores, three red-shirt freshmen and six freshmen. The Tigers returns all but one starter from the 2009 season and looks to build on last year's success to reach obtainable goals set at the start of the year.

    "This team has progressed very well in the last couple of years and we'll continue to progress if we work hard and get better every day," Benson said. "We believe we have the talent and drive to win the West division in the conference and reach the NCAA tournament for the first time in Auburn history. We're deep in numbers and we're going to be strong."

    THREE-SET WIN OVER MERCER WEDNESDAY
    Auburn faced Mercer in a midweek match Wednesday at the Student Activities Center and came away with a three-set sweep over the Bears. In total, A total of 16 Tigers saw playing time in the victory. Senior Jonelle Wallace led all attackers with 10 kills, while junior Kelly Fidero finished with nine. Freshman setter Chelsea Wintzinger recorded the first double-double of her career, finishing with 16 assists and 10 digs.

    UP NEXT
    Auburn continues its road swing as the Tigers travel to Troy on Sept. 7 for a 7 p.m. match. The Tigers opened the 2010 season with a three-set win over the Trojans at the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Aug. 27.
