Troy Match Notes
AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn volleyball team hosts in-state rival Troy on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Student Activities Center.
Auburn opened the 2009 season with three-straight wins, capturing the War Eagle Invitational title held in the Student Act, Aug. 28-29.
The Tigers faced Alabama A&M on day one of the invite and came away with a 3-0 win and then swept UAB in game one of day two. Auburn finished the tournament with a sweep of A&M. Freshman Katherine Culwell was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while juniors Lauren Mellor and Morgan Johns received all-tournament honors.
The Troy Trojans enter Wednesday's match with a 2-1 overall record, having participated in the Holiday Inn Invitational in Statesboro, Ga., last weekend. The Trojans defeated Stetson University (3-1) and Presbyterian College (3-0) before falling to host Georgia Southern (1-3).
The Tigers holds a 2-0 series record over the Trojans. The two squads met last season in Troy and saw Auburn come away with the 3-1 win.

Up next, the Tigers travel to Minneapolis, Minn., for the Diet Coke Classic. Auburn plays No. 13 Minnesota on Sept. 4 at 8 p.m. and follows with a 1 p.m. match against No. 12 Iowa State on Sept. 5. The Tigers finish the tournament facing George Washington at 5:30 p.m.
