AUBURN, Ala. - The 2010 season is fast approaching as the Auburn volleyball team opens the season on Aug. 27, hosting the two-day War Eagle Invitational. In anticipation for the upcoming season, AuburnTigers.com will take a sneak peek at different aspects of the team and season leading up to the first match against Troy at 7 p.m. at the Student Activities Center.

Defensive Specialists
The 2010 squad returns one of the top defensive specialists in Auburn history in senior Liz Crouch. The New Orleans product concluded the 2009 season with a handful of accolades to add to her resume. On Oct. 4, 2009, Crouch became the eighth Tiger to reach 1,000 career digs and currently ranks third at Auburn with 1,234 digs in her career. She also set a single-season Auburn record with 453 digs during the season.

"Liz enters her senior year with a lot of experience and leadership qualities that this team needs," head coach Wade Benson said. "I have confidence in her to get the job done and I'm anxious to see her have a great final year here at Auburn."

Joining her is junior Chanelle Clark, sophomore MacKenzy Harper and red-shirt freshman Sarah Wroblicky.

"We're excited to have Sarah able to play this year and she is solid on the court with the ability to see where the ball is going to go," Benson said. "MacKenzy and Chanelle are players that can come in and really help out a lot in the back row. All of our defensive specialists have the ability to get the job done and that is very exciting."
