AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn volleyball team continues preseason training Sunday with an intrasquad scrimmage in the Student Activities Center. The Auburn Blue will take on the Auburn Orange at 10:30 a.m., the event is open to the public.
The 2009 Tigers return eight players and welcome 10 newcomers, including nine freshmen, to the squad. With many new faces, the scrimmage is key for the coaching staff to gain a better perspective on each player.
"The battle for starting positions will be closer to being determined after this scrimmage," head coach Wade Benson said. "Low error and setter-to-hitter connection will be a major things we will be watching for."
Preseason practices continue for the next two weeks before the team hosts its annual War Eagle Invitational, Aug. 28-29. The Tigers will take on in-state rivals Alabama A&M and Alabama-Birmingham in the two-day tournament.
