AUBURN, Ala. - With less than three weeks of training before the beginning of the season, the Auburn volleyball team spent three days in Orange Beach for practices and team-building opportunities.
To open up the first full week of training, the Auburn volleyball team spent three days in Orange Beach for practices and team-building opportunities.
The team, comprised of eight returners and 10 newcomers, practiced at the Orange Beach Recreational Center Monday evening thru Wednesday morning. In the time spent away from Auburn, the squad worked on the court and began the process of developing as a team.
"This has been a good couple days for us," Wade Benson, head volleyball coach, said. "We're competing well and the team had high energy and a lot of spirit during practice. We're going to see continued growth with this team as the preseason goes on."
The Tigers enter 2009 with a positive outlook for the upcoming season and with two-a-days in full swing, the young, but deep squad continues to improve.
"We are a much deeper team this year," Benson said. "Overall, the trip was great and a fun experience for the team."
Preseason practices continue for the next two weeks before the team hosts its annual War Eagle Invitational, Aug. 28-29. The Tigers will take on in-state rivals Alabama A&M and Alabama-Birmingham in the two-day tournament.
