Tigers Add Luczak to Volleyball Staff
March 4, 2005
AUBURN, Ala. -- R.T. Luczak has been added to the Auburn volleyball staff, AU Coach Laura Farina announced this week.
The hiring reunites Luczak with Farina as he had previously served as a volunteer assistant coach while Farina guided the Marquette volleyball squad from 2000-2002. Prior to his stint with the Golden Eagles, he was a graduate assistant coach at Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1999.
"I am real excited to have R.T. returning to my staff," Farina said. "He has a great work ethic and is trustworthy as well as a very good technical coach."
Since leaving Marquette, Luczak has guided the Kokoro Volleyball Club in Milwaukee, Wis., acting as director and head coach of the 16-1 team from 2002 until accepting his post at Auburn. While with Kokoro, he guided the team to a fourth-place finish at the 2004 USAV Open National Tournament. He also led the 2002 Allstar Sportswear team to a fourth-place finish in the same tournament.
Luczak earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Macalester College in 1999 and his masters of science in counseling from UWM in 2003.
Luczak replaces Steve Aird, who left the Tigers in January to take the top assistant's position at the University of Cincinnati.
The addition of Luczak completes an overhaul of Auburn's staff as Liz Underwood had previously been hired as Auburn's top assistant, replacing Matt Darling who left in December to finish his PhD.
The Auburn volleyball team begins spring team practice on Monday, March 7.
