AUBURN, Ala. -- A pair of 2018 signees in Mica Allison and Taylor Rowland joined the Auburn volleyball team as early enrollees for the 2018 spring semester, head coach Rick Nold announced.
"We are excited to add Taylor and Mica as early enrollees," Nold said. "Spring is the time where we begin preparations for next season and getting a head start for these two will be a big benefit heading into next fall."
Allison, a 6-1 setter, joined the program after an outstanding prep career. The 2017-18 Gatorade Illinois Player of the Year guided Saint Thomas More High School to its first-ever Illinois State Championship in 2017. She entered her senior campaign as the No. 7 overall recruit in the country on the PrepVolleyball Senior Aces list and spent last summer as a member of the 2017 USA Volleyball National Youth team.
In addition, the White Heath, Ill., product earned AVCA Under Armour All-America third team recognition in 2017 and finished her scholastic campaign as a four-time First Team All-Conference performer.
With Illini Elite VBC, Allison led her squad to the AAU 17 Open National Championship in 2017. Her performance at the tournament awarded her the AAU 17U Open Division MVP.
Rowland, a 6-3 outside hitter, came to the Plains as the No. 30 overall recruit in the country on the PrepVolleyball Senior Aces list. The two-time Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year is a 2017 MaxPreps First Team Preseason All-American as well as a 2017 Under Armour Preseason All-American. She earned AVCA Under Armour All-America second team recognition at the conclusion of her senior campaign with Cox Mill High School.
The Charlotte, N.C., native brings a handful of accolades to Auburn, including a PrepVolleyball All-American and MaxPreps Underclass First Team All-American in 2016.
Rowland competed for the Carolina Juniors Volleyball Club and took part in several USA Volleyball training programs. She was most recently selected to the 2016 USA Volleyball Youth National Team Prospect Training program.
