Auburn Volleyball Falls in Five to LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. - In a back-and-fourth Southeastern Conference volleyball match, Auburn (6-22, 1-16 SEC) was unable to clinch the decisive fifth set against LSU (15-9, 10-7 SEC) and suffered a 3-2 loss Friday night in the Maravich Center. Jessica Glover, Kelly Fidero and Jonelle Wallace each provided Auburn with double-digit kills in the defeat. The Tigers saw seven players register kills on the night, led by Glover's 16. Fidero tallied a dozen and Wallace added 11 kills. Milena Bukinac also chipped in seven kills. Pushed to five sets, the match was a see-saw battle with Auburn taking a tight first-set victory, 25-23. LSU answered back, winning the second set 25-16, only to be defeated in the third set by a score of 25-16 in favor of Auburn. The Bayou Bengals mirrored in the fourth set via 25-18 victory. In the decisive fifth set, Auburn managed only three kills and fell 15-6. LSU was led by Michele Williams on 16 kills and a game-high .382 attack percentage. She also added a pair of aces. Elena Martinez had 22 digs to lead the LSU defense. Auburn's Sara Shanks led the Tiger defense and notched a double-double with 21 digs and 39 assists. Not only did Glover and Wallace have double-digit kills, but the duo also had double-doubles with 11 and 14 digs, respectively. The Tigers wrap up their weekend road trip on Sunday at Georgia (15-12,
