Auburn, Ala. - It only took three games, 30-24, 30-26, 30-19, for Auburn to put away Clemson on Saturday evening to clinch the Mizuno/Auburn Challenge tournament win and improve the overall record to 6-2 on the season. Senior Jennifer Amobi was voted the MVP of the tourney and senior Bailey Veit and sophomore Rachel Shanks earned spots on the All-Tournament team.

For the tournament, Amobi posted 39 kills on 114 attempts and accounted for 43.5 of Auburn's points in the team's three wins over Furman, Alabama A&M and Clemson. Veit recorded 45 digs over the weekend and Shanks notched 47 (4.27 DPG).

"We finally found our rhythm against Clemson and we were firing on all the right cylinders," AU head coach Laura Farina said. "This was a great win for us tonight. Jennifer really delivered some big points for us in clutch situations and is very deserving of the MVP award. Dalia had a great night tonight and had some great swings on the ball."

Dalia Naidzinaviciute led the team with 15 kills on 24 attempts (.583) in the three-game sweep over Clemson. Veit had 14 digs, Joanna Pappas recorded 40 assists in the setting position and Shanks smacked down five service aces and contributed 12 digs.

Against Alabama A&M on Saturday afternoon, Amobi and Shanks helped lead Auburn to its fifth win of the season and the second straight to bring the overall record to 5-2. Furman (3-5) captured the first game 30-27, but Auburn rebounded to take the next three, 30-26, 30-25, 30-26.

Shanks recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs over Alabama A&M. Amobi led the team for the second straight day in kills with 13 (38 attempts). Veit turned in 15 digs and Whitney Jacob assisted on five blocks. Pappas turned in 43 assists, as well.

"We had a little of the same problems that we had last night and were not able to find a rhythm," Farina said. "Alabama A&M was just hitting bullets at us. We just couldn't get out of game two. They really put the pressure on us."
