WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Auburn volleyball team picked up its second victory of the season, sweeping Arkansas State 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-16) in its final match at the Charles E. Smith Center on Saturday.

The Tigers (2-1) used a balanced effort to pick up the clean sweep against the Red Wolves (0-3) and dominated the match by overcoming a slow start in the first set to finish 2-1 at the George Washington Invitational.

“I think we had a good, balanced effort,” Auburn head coach Rick Nold said following 3-0 victory. “Yesterday, we didn’t have the energy, but I thought today we came out and played our best match of the weekend. You never know how a team will respond after a tough match, but we came out and put pressure on (Arkansas State) the entire way.”

Auburn recorded a weekend-best 43 kills in the win as the Tigers hit .233. Freshman Courtney Crable led the club with 13 kills and 14 points, while sophomore Stephanie Campbell hit a team-high .471 and converted 8-of-17 attempts. Freshman Macy Reece added in nine kills in her first career start. In the return game, Auburn was strong from the start, finishing 39-of-58 (75%) in sideouts.

Sophomore libero Taylor Schill set a career-high with 14 digs to lead the way, while freshman Alexa Filley recorded her second double-double in three matches, posting 34 assists and 10 digs. Filley was also strong in the service game with a pair of aces in the win.

Facing an early deficit, Auburn stormed back in the first set after Arkansas State opened the match with a 10-3 run. The Tigers finished the frame winning 22 out of 33 points to close the gap as Auburn’s hitters began to find their groove midway through the opening set.

Offensively, the Tigers came out firing in the second set and never looked back as Campbell and Crable posted 10 of the team’s 12 kills. Crable hit .455 in the frame with six kills, while Campbell was Auburn’s leader in the middle, converting on four of six attempts.

The Tigers continued to click on all cylinders in the third set, posting 14 kills and finishing with its best sideout percentage of the match at 75 percent (12-of-16).

Auburn travels to its final non-conference tournament next weekend in Columbus, Ohio, at the Sports Imports D.C. Koehl Classic, hosted by Ohio State. The host Buckeyes and Southern Illinois will face the Tigers in the first day of action next Friday, while Auburn will close out the three-day tournament against Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday, Sept. 7.
