Auburn women's tennis travels to USTA Clay Court Invitational
Oct. 29, 2014

AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn women’s tennis team continues its fall schedule in Orlando, Fla., as the Tigers travel to the ESPN Wide World of Sports to participate in the USTA Clay Court Invitational.
The four-day tournament runs Thursday, Oct. 30 through Sunday, Nov. 2 and gives the Tigers a chance to change up the playing surface, competing on the clay for the lone time this season.
“As we get close to wrapping up our fall schedule this tournament provides our players with a new playing surface and I think it’s a good challenge against great competition,” Auburn head coach Lauren Longbotham Meisner said. “We’ve practiced on the clay after coming back from the ITA Regional and I think the girls are ready to compete.”
16 women’s teams will compete at the tournament this weekend including 12 that finished the 2014 season ranked in the final ITA release.
The USTA Clay Court Invitational will feature three women’s draws in singles and two in the doubles. Auburn’s Michala Kucharova and Reka Muller will be the top seed in the ‘A’ draw for doubles, while Paula de Man and Andie Dikosavljevic will be the No. 2 seed in the ‘B’ draw.
In singles, Muller is seeded No. 2 in the ‘B’ draw, while Jen Pfeifler is also the No. 2 seed in the bottom half of the ‘C’ singles bracket. Dikosavljevic and de Man will play for the Tigers in the ‘A’ singles draw.

Two days of the USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational will be delivered live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app this week. Coverage will begin at 7 a.m. CT on Thursday at 8 a.m. CT Sunday featuring the men’s and women’s singles and doubles finals.
Kevin Corke will host both days’ coverage on ESPN3, with USTA Player Development General Manager and ESPN commentator Patrick McEnroe joining him for Sunday’s finals.
