Auburn, Ala. - The Auburn University women's tennis team will host its first-ever SEC Coaches Classic at the City of Auburn/Auburn University Yarbrough Tennis Center Nov. 1-4.

The tournament will showcase some of the most talented tennis players in the country, including the number one singles player, Megan Falcon of LSU, and the number six doubles team, Alex Haney and Melissa Koning of Auburn (rankings according to the Sept. 7 Fila/ITA women's tennis rankings).

The tournament also features 17 other top 125 singles competitors and 11 of the top 60 doubles pairs. Of the 12 SEC schools competing nine are ranked in the top 75 teams, according to the May 25 Fila/ITA rankings, with four of those falling in the top 30, including Auburn (No. 29).

In addition to Haney and Koning, Auburn will see action from junior Whitney Chappell, sophomores Jil Hastenrath and Heather Bybee and freshmen Gaby Beelen, Dunja Duranovic and Mary Claire Slade.

"We are excited to have everyone out for the first time to see our new facility," said Auburn head coach Tim Gray. "There are a lot of good tennis players competing in this tournament, so it should be a good weekend."

Play will begin on Thursday at 4 p.m. The tournament will consist of four singles flights and two doubles. Singles consolation will be a compass draw.
