TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Auburn women’s tennis is on the road again this weekend, this time heading to the 25th Roberta Alison Classic hosted by the University of Alabama at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
The field of 15 teams is highlighted by SEC opponents Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt in addition to the host Crimson Tide. Additionally, teams from Michigan, Clemson and Florida State will all be competing – three squads that finished the spring ranked in the ITA Top 25.
Auburn is expected the send five players to Tuscaloosa, including seniors Paulina Schippers and Plamena Kurteva. Additionally, sophomore Emily Flickinger will play in her second tournament of the fall and freshmen Ashley Kitchen and Maria Cardenas Conti will compete for the second time as collegians.
Schippers (5-1) and Kurteva (4-1) have posted the most singles wins thus far for the Tigers. Kitchen has started her Auburn career with three-straight wins.
