Women's Tennis Travels To Brown Invitational

Sept. 25, 2009

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Auburn women's tennis team will take part in it's second tournament of the fall season beginning today in the Brown Invitational in Providence, R.I.

The flighted event will involve both singles and doubles action. Eight of the nine Tigers on this fall's roster will be in action, the exception being sophomore Taylor Schreimann who is out with an injury. Three-time ITA All-American Fani Chifchieva will begin her 2009-10 season in doubles play after missing the SEC Fall Tournament due to injury.

"I am happy to see Fani back on the court," said head coach Tim Gray. "We're just taking it slow with her right now. We don't want to do too much too soon, but she is certainly ready for doubles play."

The event is a three-day affair, ending Sunday afternoon. Other teams include Rutgers, Boston University, and the host institution, Brown.

"We are excited to compete this weekend at Brown, a very good event with some solid competition," said Gray. "It is nice to get out of the south region and see some new faces."
