AUBURN, Ala. -- The Auburn women's tennis team opens the 2010 fall season this weekend at the SEC Fall Coaches' Classic at the Yarborough Tennis Center. The Tigers are hosting the tournament that features all 12 conference women's tennis teams with matches beginning at 9 a.m.
"We're really excited to host the SEC Fall Coaches' Classic this weekend," head coach Tim Gray said. "It's a great event to kick off the fall and it tells how you match up with teams nationally because the SEC is so tough."
The SEC Fall Coaches' Classic is tough competition that will help to see where the girls stand within the conference.
"It's going to be tough competition from start to finish, so we want to see where we stand within the league," Gray said. "The girls definitely have to be ready to play and are going to have three hard days of tennis."
Auburn returns only three players from last year so they enter the season as a relatively young team.
"We're a very young team this year, with four freshmen, three sophomores and one junior," Gray said. "We are using the first event to see who wants to step up and take the leadership role for our team."
