Tulsa, Okla. - Auburn sophomore Fani Chifchieva defeated number two seeded Ana Mijacika of Clemson in the round of 16 at the NCAA Individual Singles Championship hosted by the University of Tulsa.

"Fani picked up a great win today," said Auburn head coach Tim Gray. "She stayed focused and worked hard out there. Hopefully she can carry that momentum into the quarterfinals."

Chifchieva defeated Mijacika in two sets 6-2, 6-4, marking her fourth postseason win. She will face the number six seed Amanda Fink of Southern California at noon on Saturday.

The 2008 season came to an end for doubles duo Alex Haney and Melissa Koning. The pair lost to Renata Kurcerkova and Anastasia Petukhova of Fresno State 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-3, in the round of 16.
