AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn sophomore Pleun Burgmans and junior Emily Flickinger will both compete in the 2014 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships this week at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.
Burgmans enters play ranked at No. 44 in the latest ITA rankings opens play on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. CT against Stanford’s 50th-ranked Taylor Davidson. Burgmans is 19-15 overall this year and played the entire dual match season at the No. 1 spot in Auburn’s lineup. She is making her second straight appearance in the singles draw of the NCAA Championships.
Burgmans will also team with Flickinger in the doubles draw beginning Thursday. The tandem takes on Michigan’s 18th-ranked Emina Bektas and Brooke Bolender in the first round of action. Auburn’s duo enters the tournament ranked 15th in the nation and led the Tigers with a 24-6 overall record in doubles and a 17-3 mark at the top of the lineup.
