AUBURN, Ala. - No. 11 Auburn women’s tennis will travel to Tulsa, Okla. for it’s first trip to the Sweet 16 in school history on Thursday as the Tigers will face off against No. 6 Vanderbilt a 9 a.m. CT.
Auburn advanced to the NCAA Championships Round of 16 after defeating Alcorn State and No. 23 Arizona State in the Auburn Regional.
Senior Pleun Burgmans led the way for the Tigers with three wins on the weekend. The senior from Bergeijk, Netherlands is the program leader with 194 combined wins for her career. Also the all-time leader in doubles victories, Burgmans and Alizee Michaud will team up in the NCAA Doubles Championships.
Andie Dikosavljevic clinched the match against Arizona State in a three set thriller against No. 35 Desirae Krawczyk. The sophomore from Australia leads the team with 13 wins against ranked opponents. No. 20 Dikosavljevic will also compete in the NCAA Singles Championships.
This is Auburn’s fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and tenth all-time. The Tigers have a 7-8 record in the NCAA Tournament.
