AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn women's tennis senior Jen Pfeifler was awarded the Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship for the Southern Region, the ITA announced on Tuesday.
Pfeifler, a native of Gulf Breeze, Fla., is one of 10 players in the nation to win the award. Winners of the regional awards are also nominated for the ITA Division I National Awards, which will be announced on May 19.
The honor marks the second straight season that a Tiger has won the Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship, joining former teammate Jackie Kasler as award winners.
In 2014, Pfeifler posted a 15-10 record in singles and was 11-7 in dual matches. The senior also finished with a 20-12 mark in doubles including a 12-11 record in dual-match play.
The four-year letterwinner helped the Tigers to three straight NCAA Tournament berths in the last three seasons. She also guided the Tigers to a 19-9 overall record as a sophomore, an improvement of 11 wins from the previous year. She finished that year ranked No. 40 in the ITA in doubles with Kasler.
Pfeifler ranks second all-time in program history with 81 career doubles wins and sixth with 144 combined victories.
