AUBURN, Ala. - No. 11 Auburn women's tennis is set to face off against Alcorn State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 2 p.m. at Yarbrough Tennis Center.
This is the fourth straight year the Tigers have reached the NCAA Tournament under head coach Lauren Spencer and the first time to host a regional. Auburn will be joined by No. 35 North Carolina State and No. 22 Arizona State.
The nation's No. 8 doubles duo of Pleun Burgmans and Alizee Michaud lead Auburn into the opening round with a 12-4 (9-4 SEC) record. Burgmans, the ITA Southern Region Player of the Year, is the all-time leader in doubles victories with 105 for her career.
In singles, Auburn is led by No. 31 Michaud and No. 20 Andie Dikosavljevic. Both sophomores qualified for the NCAA Singles Tournament after posting a strong season at the top of the lineup. Michaud is 20-5 on the season while Dikosavljevic is 24-13 with 12 wins against ranked opponents.
The winner of the Auburn -- Alcorn State match will face off against the winner of Arizona State -- NC State on Saturday at 1 p.m. for a chance to go to Tulsa, Okla. for the Sweet 16.
