AUBURN- The SEC announced the 2010 All-SEC, All-Freshman team, and the yearly awards Wednesday afternoon. Auburn's Fani Chifchieva was Auburn's representative, as she was named to the All-SEC Team for the fourth time of her career.
Chifchieva, a three-time All-American was one of 12 selections to the first-team. She holds a 13-6 singles record this season, and is 7-4 in SEC action. She has faced seven nationally-ranked opponents this season, and has a 3-4 record against them.
"Fani has earned her place in SEC and Auburn Women's Tennis history," said head coach Tim Gray. "What she has accomplished may never be matched again. There are only a handful of programs that have ever had players accomplish what Fani has accomplished in her Auburn career."
In her four seasons on The Plains, the senior from Plovdiv, Bulgaria ranks third in singles victories with 89 and third in combined victories with 164. Previously, she was named SEC Women's Tennis Player of the Year in 2008 and 2007 ITA South Region Freshman of the Year in 2007. In her career, she is 24-17 against nationally-ranked players, and is 33-11 against SEC competition.
