AUBURN, Ala. -- After a strong showing at the SEC Women’s Tennis Championships, senior Pleun Burgmans has been named to the All-Tournament Team.
"Pleun had an outstanding showing at the conference tournament and is so deserving of this acknowledgment,” said Auburn head coach Lauren Spencer. “As a captain, she really came to win and lead her team on the court. She has had a fantastic senior year and I am so proud of how she represented Auburn at the SEC Championships. I can't wait to see what she will do in the post season."
Auburn’s career leader in doubles victory paired with Alizee Michaud and picked up two wins over ranked opponents in the SEC Women’s Tennis Championships.
The duo got things started on Friday, defeating South Carolina’s No. 25 Paige Cline and Hadley Berg. Burgmans and Michaud took down No. 3 Kourtney Keegan and Brooke Austin of Florida in the semifinals the the SEC Championships for their highest ranked win of the season.
Moving up to sixth place all-time in single season victories, Burgmans picked up her 27th win against No. 36 Kourtney Keegan of No. 3 Florida on Saturday.
Burgmans is the all-time leader in program history for combined victories in singles (86) and doubles (108).
Burgmans and Auburn women’s tennis await the NCAA Selection Show on May 3, where they will learn their destination for the NCAA Tournament Regional, beginning May 13.
