No. 31 Auburn Closes Regular Season Out at No. 26 Alabama

AUBURN - The No. 31 Auburn women's tennis team (11-10, 3-6 SEC) will close out regular-season action Saturday at No. 26 Alabama (13-7, 3-7 SEC) with a 5 p.m. contest at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. Live stats for Saturday's match can be found by clicking here.

In this week's Campbell/ITA national rankings, Fani Chifchieva is listed seventh in singles action and Alex Haney jumped 15 spots to 24th. The senior tandem of Haney and Whitney Chappell moved up 13 spots to 21st on the doubles side.

Haney leads the Tigers with a 16-2, 8-1 SEC singles record in the No. 2 spot and has won nine consecutive matches. Three other Auburn players, Chifchieva, Chappell and Hastenrath, have surpassed the 10-win mark in singles play. On the doubles side, Haney and Chappell are 9-3, 5-3 SEC.

Auburn suffered a pair of league losses last weekend, dropping a 5-2 match at No. 24 South Carolina and a heartbreaking 4-3 match at No. 21 Florida. Alex Haney and Jil Hastenrath won both of their singles matches over the weekend at the No. 2 and 6 spots, respectively.

Alabama has a pair of nationally ranked singles players in No. 83 Tiffany Welcher (10-10, 3-7 SEC) and No. 112 Courtney McLane (11-7, 3-6 SEC). All of Welcher's matches have been played in the No. 1 singles slot, followed by McLane in the No. 2 position. Seeing action in both the No. 5 and 6 spot, Shelley Goodwin has a team-best mark of 17-2, 8-2 SEC. Teamed together in doubles play, the duo of Welcher and McLane is listed at No. 71 and owns a record of 10-8, 3-7 SEC.

The Tide enter Saturday's match following a 4-1 loss at No. 21 Florida and a 6-1 loss at No. 24 South Carolina last weekend.
