AUBURN – No. 63 Auburn women’s tennis will face off with No. 7 rival Alabama Saturday in their final home match of the season.

“We are very excited about this weekend and the opportunity to play Alabama at home on A Day,” Auburn head coach Lauren Longbotham Meisner said. “The team has worked really hard this week in practice. We look forward to the challenge of playing a very talented Alabama team and we are going to give them everything we’ve got.”

Auburn (8-11, 3-7 SEC) is hoping to end the regular season on a high note for lone senior Taylor Schreimann after dropping a pair of road matches last weekend. The team will honor Schreimann with a ceremony prior to the match.

The Tigers are led by No. 81 tandem Jen Pfeifler and Paulina Schippers. The duo is 3-5 overall this season. Olivia Bennett leads Auburn with an 11-3 singles mark this season, including a 6-3 record in SEC matches.

Alabama enters Saturday’s match coming off a 4-3 win over No. 8 Georgia and a 6-1 victory at No. 21 Tennessee. The Crimson Tide is 15-3 this season and 9-1 in SEC matches. Alabama is led by a trio of ranked singles players, including ITA No. 15 Mary Anne Macfarlane (12-6 this spring).

Alexa Guarachi teams with Courtney McLane to rank as the No. 21 doubles tandem in the country according to the ITA. The duo is 14-3 overall in 2012.

Auburn trails the Crimson Tide in the all-time series 17-26. Saturday’s senior day match at the Yarbrough Tennis Center is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.
