AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 44 Auburn women’s tennis team will wrap up the regular season by hosting Missouri and No. 38 Arkansas at the Yarbrough Tennis Center this weekend. Auburn will take on Missouri at 2 p.m. Friday for Senior Day and wrap up the weekend against the Razorbacks on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Tigers (14-11, 2-9 SEC) swept Alabama A&M, 7-0 and 5-0, in a midweek doubleheader to open a four-match homestand. This weekend’s slate of matches marks the final two home contests for Emily Flickinger, Michala Kucharova and Jen Pfeifler. Auburn will honor the trio prior to Friday’s match against Missouri.
Flickinger earned All-America honors in 2014 after reaching the semifinals of the NCAA Individual Championships in doubles with teammate Pleun Burgmans. Earlier this season, Flickinger’s 92 career doubles wins are the most in school history and the Arlington, Va., native ranks fourth in school history with 158 combined wins.
Pfeifler, a four-year letterwinner for the Tigers, is third all-time in school history with 79 career doubles victories. The Gulf Breeze, Fla., native has won 137 combined matches at Auburn, which ranks as the sixth-most in school history.
Kucharova has been one of Auburn’s top doubles players since joining the team during the 2012-13 season. She has posted an impressive 48-18 mark in doubles, including a 32-11 record in dual matches.
Missouri (8-15, 0-11 SEC) is looking for its first win in SEC play this season. Cassidy Spearman has provided the Tigers with two doubles victories in SEC play, while four players have picked up a singles win for Missouri against conference opponents. Auburn is 3-0 all-time against Missouri.
Arkansas (15-12, 3-8 SEC) has won two out of its last three matches heading into the final weekend of SEC play. The Razorbacks are led by Yuliya Lysa’s 17 wins in singles this season. Lysa is ranked 68th in singles in the latest ITA release. The Tigers lead the all-time series with the Razorbacks, 23-16.
