Women's Tennis Travels to Tennessee and Georgia

AUBURN – No. 63 Auburn women’s tennis will tangle with a pair of ranked teams this weekend as it hits the road to face No. 22 Tennessee and No. 5 Georgia in the final road weekend of SEC competition.

Auburn is hoping to rebound from a pair of conference losses a week ago at the hands of No. 2 Florida and No. 32 South Carolina. The Tigers are led by freshman Jen Pfeifler. The Gulf Breeze, Fla. native is ranked 118th individually and 36th with doubles partner Paulina Schippers.

Tennessee enters Fridays match coming of a 6-1 road win over Kentucky. The Lady Vols are 12-9 this season, but just 3-5 in SEC matches. No. 28 Brynn Boren and No. 29 Natalie Pluskota lead the charge for Tennessee.

Pluskota teams with Caitlyn Williams to rank as the No. 12 doubles tandem in the country according to the ITA. The duo is 7-4 playing entirely at the top spot in 2012.

Georgia is 17-2 this season, including a 6-1 mark in the SEC. Four singles players for the Bulldogs rank in the top 80, led by eighth-ranked Chelsey Gullickson. The senior from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. holds a  28-7 record and is 7-1 this spring in conference action.

Auburn trails the Lady Vols in the all-time series 6-29 and is 6-46 all-time against UGA. Friday’s match in Knoxville is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT, while Sunday’s Easter match against the Bulldogs will begin at 12 p.m. CT.
