No. 23 Women's Tennis to Face Texas A&M and Missouri

AUBURN – No. 23 Auburn’s women’s tennis hits the road to continue SEC play against host No. 4 Texas A&M at 5 p.m. CT on Friday at the Mitchell Tennis Center, and No. 49 Missouri at 11:30 a.m. CT on Sunday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Mo.

The Tigers (15-5, 5-4 SEC) are closing out their final two regular season away matches before the SEC Championships.

Leading the way for Auburn is ITA No. 36 freshman Pleun Burgmans. She holds an 18-5 overall record and is 7-1 in SEC play competing exclusively at the top spot in the lineup.

Burgmans is 6-3 against nationally ranked opponents.

In doubles, the tandem of Burgmans and senior Plamena Kurteva ranks No. 26 and is coming off a huge 8-6 win over Vanderbilt’s No. 18 team of Lauren Mira and Courtney Colton. The duo is 3-2 in SEC play and 2-1 against ranked opponents.

Fourth-ranked Texas A&M (16-2, 8-1 SEC) is coming off a 4-2 win over No. 42 Baylor. The Aggies have three players ranked nationally: Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar is No. 5, Nazari Urbina is ranked 55th and Christina Stancu is No. 68.

On the doubles side, Texas A&M has two ranked teams in No. 7 Stefania Hristov and Stancu and No. 72 Sanchez-Quintanar and Wen Sun.

Missouri (9-8, 2-7 SEC) is coming off a 4-3 win over No. 23 Tennessee. Mizzou has one ranked player in No. 105 Cierra Gaytan-Leach.
