AUBURN, Ala. - No. 42 Auburn women’s tennis travels to No. 12 Alabama on Saturday at 1 p.m. for its final road SEC match of the season.
The Tigers (12-10, 2-8 SEC) head to Tuscaloosa after dropping a heartbreaker on the road Wednesday at No. 44 Mississippi State, 4-3. Auburn trailed 3-1 but rallied to tie the match at 3-3 before the Bulldogs clinched the match on court five with a three-set victory by Jennifer Brown over the Tigers’ Paula de Man.
de Man continues to lead Auburn with a 9-2 dual-match record this season, while freshman Andie Dikosavljevic is a 11-8 for the Tigers.
Alabama (13-6, 5-5 SEC) dropped three spots in the latest ITA team rankings after being swept last weekend by Kentucky and Vanderbilt. The Crimson Tide are led by 30th-ranked Erin Routliffe, No. 48 Maya Jansen and No. 66 Danielle Spielmann in singles.
Doubles play this weekend will feature two of the top-10 duos in the country and two pairs that made it to the NCAA semifinals a year ago. Auburn’s 10th-ranked tandem of Pleun Burgmans and Emily Flickinger have a 22-8 overall record and have won three straight matches heading into Saturday’s contest. Routliffe and Jansen are No. 4 in the latest ITA release with a 24-3 overall record.

The Tigers host Alabama A&M for a doubleheader on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Auburn will take on Texas A&M on Friday at 2 p.m. and Missouri on Sunday at 1 p.m. to close outs its SEC slate.
