March 31, 2011

AUBURN - The women's tennis team (4-13, 0-6 SEC) will play the last home matches of the season against No. 53 LSU on Friday and No. 15 Arkansas on Sunday. Still looking for their first SEC win, the Tigers will look to take advantage of the home court this weekend.

"We have shown that we have the ability to compete, we just need everyone to step up," said Auburn head coach Tim Gray. "These are two important SEC West matches for us. We have to bring our absolute best effort this weekend, anything less is unacceptable."

Previewing LSU

The LSU Tigers are currently ranked 53rd and are 9-9 on the season with a 3-3 record in the SEC. The Tigers will field the No. 62 doubles team of Kaitlin Burns and Whitney Wolf. Wolf is also LSU's only ranked singles player, coming in at No. 66 in the country.

Previewing Arkansas

The Razorbacks are 13-6 this season and are ranked 15th in the nation. They are currently on a two match skid, bringing their SEC record to 3-3. In doubles, Arkansas has a team ranked in the top 25 in No. 24 Anouk Tigu and Claudine Paulson. The Hogs' Tigu is also the team's only ranked singles player, coming in at No. 27.

Last Time Out

The Auburn women's tennis team took on No. 14 Vanderbilt and Kentucky last weekend. On Friday, Auburn fell to the Commodores 7-0 at home. The Tigers then went on the road to Lexington, where the team dropped a 6-1 decision with Caroline Thornton getting the Auburn victory.
