No. 29 Auburn Women to Host Southern Miss on Tuesday

AUBURN - The 29th-ranked Auburn women's tennis team (10-6, 3-2 SEC) will play host to Southern Miss (4-10) in a mid-week matchup Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. Live stats and video from the match will be available on www.auburntigers.com.

The Tigers are coming off of a 1-1 weekend against No. 26 Vanderbilt and No. 19 Kentucky. Auburn suffered a 4-3 loss to the Commodores on Friday on the indoor courts of the Yarbrough Tennis Center. The Tigers then rebounded on Sunday with a 5-2 upset of the Wildcats in Lexington, Ky. Junior Myrthe Molenveld secured Auburn's upending of Kentucky in a thrilling three-set victory in the No. 4 position.

Southern Miss comes to the Plains after a 4-1 setback to Conference USA foe Memphis on Saturday. The Golden Eagles picked up a doubles win in the No. 3 spot.

Head coach Tim Gray's squad jumped two spots in this week's Campbell's ITA national team rankings from 31st to 29th. The senior doubles tandem of Whitney Chappell and Alex Haney jumped to No. 34. Individually, two-time All-American Fani Chifchieva is ranked sixth and Haney is listed 39th.
