AUBURN – The No. 64 Auburn women’s tennis team will host the Kentucky Wildcats on Friday afternoon at the Yarbrough Tennis Center before heading to Nashville to square off with the No. 23 Vanderbilt Commodores.
"We are well-rested after a weekend off and ready to test ourselves against Kentucky and Vanderbilt," Auburn head coach Lauren Longbotham Meisner said. "We have had a good week of practice and I am excited to see how we perform against two really talented teams."
Auburn’s last match ended in a 5-2 defeat against the No. 25 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Tigers earned the doubles point after Jen Pfiefler and Paulina Schippers upset the ninth-ranked tandem of Jillian O’Neill and Alex Anghelescu on court two, and Emily Flickinger and Jackie Kasler defeated Lynn Blau and Elizabeth Kilborn on court one.
Jackie Kasler picked up her fourth-straight singles win at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Anghelescu. Kasler has now won 5-of-6 and stands at 9-4 this spring and 16-8 overall this season.
Kentucky is looking for its first conference win of the season after losing its first four matches of the conference season. The Wildcats are coming off a 6-1 loss to South Carolina and a 7-0 loss to Florida.
The 23rd-ranked Commodores are currently 3-1 in SEC play with their only loss coming to Florida. Vanderbilt is coming off a 5-2 victory against the Gamecocks. The Commodores are led by senior Jackie Wu, who is 12-4 this season at the No. 1 spot.
