BIRMINGHAM – The Southeastern Conference has announced its 14-team conference schedules for spring 2012, including Auburn’s slates for baseball, softball and tennis for the 2012-13 season.
Yesterday, the conference and Auburn released its 2012-13 fall and winter sport league schedules for gymnastics, soccer and volleyball.
Missouri and Texas A&M enter the SEC on July 1, giving the SEC 14 teams in baseball and women’s tennis, and 13 teams in softball and men’s tennis. Vanderbilt does not compete in softball and Missouri does not field a men’s tennis squad.
The 2012-13 schedules are not based on any other previous or future scheduling formats. The SEC Athletics Directors are currently formulating scheduling principles for the 2013-14 season and beyond.
Auburn baseball is 1-4 all-time against Missouri, which includes a three-game series to open up the 2012 season at Plainsman Park. The two teams will play the return series in Columbia from April 26-28, 2013. Baseball will play its first-ever series with Texas A&M from April 5-7.
Softball is 2-2 all-time against Texas A&M with the last meeting coming in 2011. The program holds a 2-1 advantage all-time against Missouri dating back to 2003. Auburn will not face either school in 2013.
In these spring sports, Missouri will participate in the Eastern Division and Texas A&M in the Western Division.
Women’s tennis is 0-2 all-time against Texas A&M and has never faced Missouri. The Aggies visit The Plains on April 5, while Missouri travels to Auburn on April 7. The men’s tennis program holds a 2-3 mark against Texas A&M, and will welcome the Aggies to Auburn on April 5.
