Women's Tennis to Face Mississippi State, Ole Miss

AUBURN - The 49th-ranked Auburn women's tennis team (6-5, 1-1 SEC) will hit the road for a pair of Southeastern Conference matches on Friday and Sunday. Auburn will take on Mississippi State (8-2, 0-2 SEC) Friday at 2 p.m., Starkville. The Tigers will then travel to Oxford for an 1 p.m. match up against Ole Miss (4-4, 0-2) on Sunday.

Auburn is coming off its first weekend of league action with a 1-1 record. The Tigers defeated No. 18 LSU, 5-2, behind solid singles play after surrendering the doubles point. No. 11 Fani Chifchieva provided a big win, beating No. 12 Megan Falcon, 6-4, 6-3.

Against the 28th-ranked Razorbacks, the doubles team of Alex Haney and Whitney Chappell upset the 18th-ranked duo of Anouk Tigu and Nanar Airapetian on the center court, 8-4.

Freshman Daniela Vukadinovic was the only Tiger in singles action to win both of her weekend matches. Playing in the No. 6 spot, she beat LSU's Nicole Smith, 6-2, 6-2, and then easily handled Arkansas' Kate Lukomskaya, 6-3, 6-4.

Auburn will return to its home court at the Yarbrough Tennis Center on March 27 to take on Vanderbilt at 4 p.m.
