AUBURN - No. 17 Auburn women's tennis hits the road to begin SEC play against host Mississippi State Friday, March 1 at 3 p.m. CT at the A.J Pitts Tennis Centre and No. 42 Ole Miss Sunday, March 3 at 1 p.m. CT at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
The Tigers (10-1) are aiming to continue a 10-match win streak after earning a pair of victories last weekend at home over Tulane 5-2, and UAB, 7-0. Additionally, Auburn defeated No. 19 Texas Tech last Thursday, 5-2, for the first win over a top 25 team in Meisner's two-year tenure.
It was the first time that the 2012 Big XII champions had lost the doubles point in 21 matches.
Auburn's 10 victories equal the longest winning streak in school history, and it also marks the first time the Tigers have reached 10 wins since 2009.
Women's tennis finished the month of February with a perfect 9-0 record. The unblemished month included three upset victories over ranked opponents. On the season, the Tigers have claimed four upset victories overall.
This flawless record allowed the team to jump 42 spots to No. 17 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I rankings. It marks the first time Auburn has been ranked in the top 25 since the end of the 1996 season.
Auburn's lone loss of the season was in the dual-match opener against top-ranked North Carolina.
In their final non-conference home match of 2013, the Mississippi State Lady Bulldog tennis squad (5-2) posted a 6-1 victory against Samford (5-3) on Wednesday. Auburn is 24-14 all-time against the Bulldogs.
Ole Miss is 2-4 on the season and have one player ranked nationally; junior Caroline Rohde-Moe is ranked No. 39. Auburn is 12-26 all-time against the Rebels.
