AUBURN - Auburn women's tennis hosts No. 21 Texas Tech at 11 a.m. CT on Thursday at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
"Texas Tech is a very good team that has already had some really big wins," Auburn women's tennis head coach Lauren Longbotham Meisner said. "We've had a really great week of practice and I believe the girls are ready for the challenge. This is our first big home test and I think we think we have a really good shot. We are looking forward to competing against a really talented team and we hope the Auburn fans come out and support us."
No. 59 Auburn is currently riding a seven-match win streak, with their only loss coming at the hands of No. 1 North Carolina on Jan. 26. The Tigers are coming off a great week where they earned a pair of 7-0 victories defeating both Alabama State and Troy in Auburn.
Pleun Burgmans, the ITA No. 71 player, and senior Paulina Schippers each picked up two singles and two doubles wins for a perfect 4-0 doubleheader. The No. 55 tandem of Burgmans and Plamena Kurteva won two doubles matches to move to a perfect 5-0 for the season.
Texas Tech is currently stands at 6-1 and is coming off a 4-2 win over No. 32 Rice on Feb. 17. The Red Raiders lone loss of the season came at the hands of No. 19 Baylor, 4-3. Auburn is 1-0 all-time against the Red Raiders.
