TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Auburn women’s tennis is aiming for 4-0 on the young season when they make the trip to face No. 21 Florida State on Sunday.
“We are ready to get back on the courts this weekend,” Auburn coach Lauren Longbotham Meisner said. “We were able to use the last couple of weeks to concentrate on areas that I felt we needed to improve, and I feel confident that we are getting better every day. Florida State is going to be a very good road test for us as a team as we continue to prepare for SEC play.”
Auburn (3-0) is coming off an opening week of dual-matches that included wins over Southern Miss, Troy and Alabama A&M on January 28-29. Conversely, FSU stands at 4-1 on the spring season after hosting Ohio State and Ole Miss as part of the National Team Indoor Championships on the final weekend in January.
After knocking off Ohio State, the Seminoles fell to Mississippi in a hotly-contested match 4-3. Florida State most recently picked up home wins over North Florida (5-0) and FIU (5-2).
The Tigers are looking to build on the early success from the trio of victories. Auburn earned a pair of identical 7-0 wins over Southern Miss and Alabama A&M at the Yarbrough Tennis Center just one day after knocking off the Trojans 5-2 on the road.
Play is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday. For live stats visit the link above.
