AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 28 Auburn women's tennis team continues its seven-match road swing this weekend as the Tigers get set to play three matches in two days in Houston, Texas.
Auburn (4-2) will take on No. 57 Washington State at 11 a.m. Saturday before closing out the day with Prairie View A&M at 4 p.m. The Tigers will wrap up the weekend against No. 42 Washington on Sunday with match time set for 10 a.m. All three matches will be played the University of Houston's John E. Hoff Tennis Courts.
The Tigers split a pair of matches last weekend in Lubbock, Texas. Auburn fell 4-1 to No. 29 Texas Tech last Saturday, before taking the final match of the doubleheader against Wyoming, 4-0.
The third-ranked doubles pair of Pleun Burgmans and Emily Flickinger continue to lead the Tigers with a 14-5 overall record this season. Burgmans is also ranked 36th in the nation in singles and is 10-5 overall. The junior is off to a 3-1 start in dual matches in singles.
Washington is 3-2 overall in 2015 and is led by No. 90 Elianne Douglas-Miron in singles, while Washington State boasts a 7-0 record. Prairie View A&M is 1-5 and Saturday's match marks the first-ever meeting between Auburn and the Panthers.
The Tigers round out their road swing next weekend in Birmingham with a Saturday doubleheader against Samford and UAB before returning home Sunday, Feb. 15 to take on Troy at 5 p.m. Admission is free to all home matches at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
