Andie Dikosavljevic picked up a big win in the consolation bracket of the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championship, beating No. 15 Taylor Davidson from Stanford (6-4, 6-4) in New York.
“This was a great win for Andie,” said assistant women’s tennis coach Chris Hooshyar. “Coach (Lauren) Meisner has done a fantastic job of working with our players on their mental toughness this fall and it really showed today. Andie went out and played great tennis against one of the best players in the nation. I think she is starting to see that if she plays her game, she can play with anyone. ”
Dikosavljevic trailed 3-0 in the first set, but she settled down and battled back to win the set, 6-4. She never trailed in the second set and won 6-4 to advance to the second round of the consolation bracket.
Dikosavljeivic will face the winner of No. 72 Caroline Brinson of Georgia or Nuria Ormeno Ruiz from Colorado on Saturday.
