AUBURN, Ala. -
Pleun Burgmans and Andie Dikosavljevic advanced to the main draw quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA Regional Championship on Saturday as Auburn picked up three wins at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships.
“It was good to see Pleun, Andie and Alannah all bounce back in the singles bracket today after a tough morning for all of our doubles teams,” Auburn head coach Lauren Longbotham Meisner said. “I’m looking forward to seeing our team getting back out there and competing tomorrow morning.”
Burgmans, the number three seed in main draw singles, clinched a spot in the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-0 over Stephanie Barnett from Nicholls State.
Dikosavljevic also advanced to the main draw quarterfinals with a 6-2, 6-2 win over No. 21 Erin Routliffe from Alabama.
In the main draw consolation, Alannah Griffin advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Laura Valkova of South Alabama. Caroline Turner lost to No. 57 Arianne Hartono from Ole Miss 6-3, 6-1.
Sofia Blanno fell in the consolation b draw in a three set match to Courtney Conley from Jacksonville State 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (6).
After a strong day yesterday, all of Auburn’s doubles teams fell in the round of 16 in the main draw bracket. The freshman duo Turner and Griffin fell to No. 17 ranked Erin Routliffe and Danielle Spielmann 8-1. Muller and Dikosavljevic fell to Carolin Drescher and Alex Kitchen of Southern Mississippi 8-2. Burgmans got knocked out of the doubles tournament after winning two straight doubles titles after her and de Man lost a heartbreaker 8-5 to Jennifer Brown and Kristina Vozniak of Mississippi State.
